What you can expect…
If you are a teen, in the first therapy session, we usually meet together, with your parents so I can hear more about your reasons for seeking counseling. It’s advantageous to get your parent’s perspective as well as your own. During our intake session, we will review initial paperwork and set goals for counseling. I will also answer any questions you may have about moving forward in our work together. Eventually, you and I will just meet together, but I will encourage you to keep your parents informed of the important aspects of our work together.
If you are a young adult, 18 or older, we will meet together and identify aspects of your life that you would like to explore or better understand or change. During this intake session we will also review initial paperwork, and I will answer any questions you may have about moving forward in our work together. We will then devise a treatment plan for reaching your goals.
